Rigid pin

Precision for the finest grid dimensions

Precision and durability

Rigid pin fixtures are used for testing electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards. They ensure precise fixation at minimal pitch dimensions, offering maximum stability and durability. Thin rigid pins make contact on both populated and unpopulated printed circuit boards, even in the finest structures. In the fixture the rigid pins are guided by several plates from the grid head to a precisely defined contact point. This enables the deflection of the pin, allowing testing at the smallest pitch dimensions. The finest mechanics allow for a contact pitch of ≥ 80 µm, making the fixture particularly suitable for fine mechanics, medical, and automated applications.

At GPS Prüftechnik, we are dedicated to efficiently and reliably meeting your unique testing requirements.

More about rigid pin fixtures

The rigid pin fixture features a well-designed technology where several guiding plates precisely direct the rigid pin. These pins are connected to a grid head, which ensures that they are deflected in a controlled manner to a defined contact point. During the contacting process, the fixture is compressed to a specific height, causing the pins to be pressed into spring pins in the grid head, creating a uniform contact force. This precise movement allows for contact points with high resolution, down to 80 µm.

The angled alignment of the rigid pins minimizes any play, ensuring precise and stable contacts even at small test points and in tight spaces around electronic components. Additionally, depending on the requirements, hold-downs can be positioned next to the pins to provide optimal support for the device under test during double-sided contacting, ensuring a secure connection.

Rigid pin fixtures are used in a variety of ways and are known for their high versatility. They are essential in mechanical testing adapters, where they ensure stable and reliable connections – even under the most demanding conditions. In addition, rigid pin fixtures are used in the field of pneumatic. Compact rigid pin cassettes can be integrated into a vacuum fixture, where the vacuum generates the stroke while keeping the device under test in a vacuum-free zone. These fixtures can be used for both single- and double-sided contacting, and support different test methods such as ICT (In-Circuit Test) and FCT (Functional Test).

In addition, rigid pin fixtures are widely used in automated inlinesystems for testing both populated and unpopulated circuit boards. They are especially effective for devices with a contacting pitch of less than 0.4 mm and are employed in both semi-automatic and fully automatic handling systems.
